Fed: Kennedy to leave NGA in August

CANBERRA, Feb 9 AAP - Brian Kennedy, the controversial director of the National Gallery
of Australia, will leave one of Australia's top cultural jobs when his contract expires
in August.

Dr Kennedy - who has been in the position since 1997 - will not seek reappointment
when his term expires.

"Since opening to the public in 1982, the National Gallery has had three directors,
each of whom served for seven years," he said.
