NSW: Man dies in Dapto after assault by group of men
SYDNEY, Dec 22 AAP - A man died after an assault early this morning near Wollongong, police said.
Police said a 38-year-old man from Berkley was sleeping near a kebab shop on the BongBong Road at Dapto when he was woken by a number of men about 3.30am (AEDT) and an altercationensued.
Detectives from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command said the 38-year-old man died of his injuries.
A post-mortem would confirm the nature of the injuries.
A 19-year-old man is assisting Port Kembla police with their investigations.
Witnesses to the incident were being sought, police said.
