The title of this novel is only oxymoronic if one assumes, in conformance with hegemonic realism, that remembering and forgetting are binary opposites, rather than-as postulated here-memory being the (re)enactment of forgetting, in the sense that memory is an index of the almost everything we forget and not a repository of what we don't want to or can't remember. Which is perhaps only another way of sawing that memory is a creative act rather than mere recovery of things past.
